Process improvement- We work with the client in identifying the changes required to improve the process. Then, developing a model of the process allowing clients to determine and resolve potential problems before implementing the proposed process. Projects include:
- Mapping the prisoner flows into the custody suites in a police force by hour of day and day of week. Developing and validating a simulation model of the current process. Using the model to explore options for better utilising resources and transferring the knowledge to in house staff.
- Reviewing the case processing system in a police force and developing and validating a deterministic model of the process. Working with stakeholders to set out options for process improvement and using the model to determine the resource requirements.
- Mapping the debt recovery (IR) process and working with stakeholders to agree how the process should work on the introduction of a central computer controlled workflow system. Simulated the proposed system to determine the work flows over time and expected clearance volumes by activity. Used the model to explore options for smoothing the work flows over time resulting in a modified proposal.
The model (deterministic or stochastic) allows the client to determine and resolve potential problems with process change before modifying the process
Clients include Police Information Technology Office (PITO) and the Inland Revenue
